Academic translation covers two distinct needs. The first is application documents: diplomas, transcripts, equivalency papers and reference letters. These usually require sworn translation and sometimes an apostille; we plan the process around what the school or institution expects. The second is academic content: theses, articles, conference abstracts and research reports. Here, academic style must be preserved alongside terminology. Citations and bibliography are left in the format expected by the target language and the journal. Grading systems differ across countries. In transcript translation, grades are not converted automatically; whatever the source document states is carried over, with an explanatory note added where needed.
